The almost total diversion of dedicated land conservation funding for the last few years has sent a wake up call to the conservation, parks and recreation, agricultural preservation, and land trust communities. We must ensure that Maryland's nationally acclaimed land conservation programs-- Program Open Space (POS), the Maryland Agricultural Land Preservation Foundation, and Rural Legacy Program--are protected.

Partners for Open Space is a statewide coalition of groups seeking to secure, save, and protect Maryland's land conservation programs. The 150+ member coalition includes a wide range of groups and is led by The Nature Conservancy, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Environment Maryland, Maryland Recreation and Parks Association, Maryland League of Conservation Voters Education Fund, 1000 Friends of Maryland, Trust for Public Land, and American Farmland Trust. 

Membership to Partners for Open Space is open to all groups who support the coalition's mission. Partners for Open Space's fiscal agent is 1000 Friends of Maryland and does not endorse, support, or oppose any candidates for office. 

Together the Partners for Open Space represent more than 200,000 Marylanders!

Partners for Open Space is leading an effort to educate citizens, mobilize conservation groups and their members, and expand the coalition to influence Maryland decision makers to restore funding for land conservation and our park development.
