As Conservation Chair for the Harford Bird Club, I should point out that our 300+ members depend heavily on state parks as well as our county parks
- and parks in other counties - for lands on which we can practice our passion of observing and understanding wild birdlife.
Birds depend on open spaces for breeding and feeding. One of our prized locations is the Perryman peninsula, much of which is threatened with industrial development. Other locations are threatened by residential development and some birds are nearly gone from Harford County, including the American woodcock and the beautiful Eastern meadowlark.
These birds depend on open grassland-type habitat - quickly disappearing from Harford. We need funds to save these places before they are gone!!
